Rank Stirpidity

Congressman Randy Cunningham, also known as the Duke, or Dukester, owner the yacht "The DukeStir" has pled guilty AND resigned from Congress.

Oh, Randy....

From Talking Points Memo:

"Between the year 2000 and June of 2005 in our district, you conspired to accept bribes in exchange for performance of official duties. Did you do that?" Judge Burns asked Cunningham.

"Yes, your honor," Cunningham replied.

"Did you take both cash payments and payments in kind?"

"Yes, your honor," the congressman said.

"Did you follow up by trying to influence the Defense Department?"

"Yes, your honor."

Bush Crazies Plan to Rock MTV

"If any song was ever a virtual lock to top the TRL charts, it’s got to be this rockin’ tribute to all things Bush."

With that sentence, the line between reality and satire has been erased.

With gems like:

Freedom in Afghanistan, say goodbye Taliban
Free elections in Iraq, Saddam Hussein locked up
Osama’s staying underground, Al Qaida now is finding out
America won’t turn and run once the fighting has begun

Don’t you know that all this means…

BUSH WAS RIGHT!!
BUSH WAS RIGHT!!!

These people often mistake screaming loudest for being proved right. Orwell noticed the same problem.

Still, one has to wonder, considering Bush was against nation-building prior to September 11, what exactly was he right about? Allowing American to suffer the worst attack in its soil in history so he would have cover to invade Afghanistan?

But don't worry, Osama's undergroud, so it's all ok.

This is funny:

WILL YOU HELP US? We’re putting together a “kickin’” music video right now,
and we’re preparing a HUGE grassroots campaign to get hundreds of thousands of
people to request “Bush Was Right!” on MTV’s “Total Request Live” show… leading to
our demands for it to be played in regular rotation!

If they DON’T - then we’ll hit the media in a BIG way, showing how MTV plays
left-wing videos while CENSORING conservative videos!"

The media are scared now. Get ready for some "kickin"!

Was Bob Woodward Lying?

When he said this:

"I have not seen any evidence that he [Karl Rove] really disclosed the identity of this CIA undercover operative who was married to Joe Wilson, who was the ambassador, former ambassador that they sent on this mission to look for some evidence that maybe Saddam was getting uranium from an African country. "

-- Bob Woodward, July 11, 2005

If Woodward's source wasn't Rove, then a THIRD White House official was involved. Even so, his statement above is incredibly disengenuous to the point of being misleading. Who can trust anything he say,s when he is obviously actively covering for the government?

Bob Woodward is Keeping Secrets

There was a time when Bob Woodward's job was to find out the secrets people in power were keeping and reveal them to the public.

But that was a long time ago.

Now we find out that Bob has been hiding the fact that someone in the White House, and not Scooter Libby, told him Valerie Plame's identity in June of 2003, before it became public.

If you saw Woodward's appalling performance on Larry King back in October, you know he did everything but offer absolution to Karl Rove, and virtually smeared anyone who dare question Bob's precious sources - that is, the Administration. He said any damage from exposing her identity - she worked on tacking loose nuclear weapons - was "quite minimal."

Woodward only testified Monday. It's unclear why.

Hilariously, one of Libby's lawyers now wants an apology!

"Will Mr. Fitzgerald now say he was wrong to say on TV that Scooter Libby was the first official to give this information to a reporter?" he said.

Calm down. Defend your client. He's in enough trouble.

And Bob - someday, maybe you could the rest of us in on the big secret you and the government are keeping.

Or some young enterprising young reporter will do it for you.

Jordanian Officials Take Responsibility

"11 Jordanian officials resign after bombings"

I'm confused.

Shouldn't they be screaming into a bullhorn, throwing a baseball, and taking victory lap right now?

Bill O'Reilly Supports Terrorism

Bill O'Reilly wants Al Qaeda to come to America to kill innocent Americans:

“If Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we’re not going to do anything about it. We’re going to say, look, every other place in America is off limits to you, except San Francisco.”

–– Bill O'Reilly

I know this is old news, and I did write about it last Friday. But I just found out that O'Reilly is creating an "enemies list" of people who disagree with his pro-terrorism stance, and I'm hoping to get on it.

Bill - you're scum who supports the murder of children!!

Will that do it?

New York Republican Party in Freefall

The Times has a stroy today about the New York State Republican party in collapse.

."..the state Republican Party is beset by ideological divisions, personal rivalries and individual agendas that are undermining any semblance of party unity as the 2006 elections approach, many party officials say."

"People close to Mr. Pataki, for example, are trying to squelch an effort by some Republicans to give the gubernatorial nomination to Tom Golisano, the Rochester billionaire who founded the Independence Party and used his money to make strong attacks on Mr. Pataki through the years."

Yeah, no kidding. Plus, I doubt doubt Golisano could win.

"Republicans say that the Pataki camp has gone so far as to threaten to work behind the scenes on behalf of the likely Democratic nominee, Eliot Spitzer, if Mr. Golisano wins the nomination."

Huh? They're really ARE screwed up.

"Several Republicans compare the disarray in their ranks to the troubles the state's Democratic Party faced in 1994, when Gov. Mario M. Cuomo was toppled after 12 years in office. Democrats complained then that Mr. Cuomo had left the party demoralized, ideologically rudderless and short of talent."

Yes, I was there, and I know exactly what that was like.

"Representative John E. Sweeney, an upstate Republican, agreed, saying that the "party has to go back to basics and rebuild from the bottom up" to shape a new identity in the wake of Mr. Pataki's long tenure.

"For the last 12 years, the party has morphed from a core set of beliefs into a personality," said Mr. Sweeney, who represents the counties surrounding Albany and who helped engineer the defeat of Mr. Cuomo. "That usually happens when you have a sitting governor as long as we have."

Well, whatever the cause, they do recognize it.

"One of the factors fueling the apprehensions of Republicans is the beleaguered campaign that Jeanine F. Pirro, the Westchester district attorney, has been waging since August to unseat Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton."

"Ms. Pirro's struggle, after a rocky start that included embarrassing gaffes and lackluster fund-raising, has provided proof of the breakdown in party discipline, as many prominent Republicans, including Representative Vito J. Fossella, Mr. King and Mr. Sweeney, have yet to throw their support behind her candidacy."

Ha! Ha! I could have told you she would be terrible. Oh, and congrats to Andy Spano for another landslide win! Andy Spano, you rock!

"Some Republicans are even hoping that Ms. Pirro will decide to run for the open seat for attorney general instead of continuing her Senate bid...."

This is what I said weeks ago!

"In a recent interview, Michael R. Long, the chairman of the Conservative Party, indicated that his party was leaning toward endorsing Ms. Pirro's main primary challenger, John Spencer, a little-known candidate and former Yonkers mayor who is campaigning to the right of Ms. Pirro."

Oh, come one. Everyone knows John Spencer! Anyway, they're both from Westchester. (Just like Hillary).

The upshot is that they're seeking someone to run for Governor, and looking for anyone. Hopefully with a lot of money.

Chalabi Returns to the Scene of the Crime

"I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything."
